Sicilian puppet restoration

Restoration date February 2023

Arrived all disassembled inside a box. This 120 cm high Pupo had serious damage to the wooden structure because it had been gnawed by woodworms. After reconstructing the fulcrums that determine the movement of the arms and legs, the torso was encased in an aluminium shell. We then reinforced the pivot supporting the head, the attachment on the arms, and gave a more real shape to the hands by lengthening the fingers on the left one. The housing for the shoes was reconstructed, the now filthy hemp hair replaced, the face partly restored and painted. Almost every piece of armour was dismantled, rectified, cleaned and reassembled. Same work for the robes. We added the long waistcoat from scratch and added stripes to the trousers to pick up the purple of the sleeves and the green of the sleeve. Same for the turban.
