Performances of the Puppet Opera in Sicily
History, tradition and innovation
For more than 40 years, we are committed to the preservation and enhancement of this ancient art, taking care of every detail, from the construction of the puppets to the staging of our shows. While remaining faithful to tradition, we are open to new interpretations and narratives. In our classical shows, we represent the Carolingian cycle, but we are also able to stage stories of saints, Shakespearean plays, myths, legends and Greek tragedies, offering a unique experience that fuses history and culture.
Unique Features of Our Shows
Innovative and Modular Theatrical Structure
The puppets we use respect the traditional height of 80 cm, a detail that lends authenticity and majesty to our performances. Each performance is an immersive journey into the world of puppets, made even more special by our modular theatre structure. This innovative structure, measuring 4 by 2 metres, can be adapted to the available space, allowing the spectator to discover the secrets behind the scenes without taking attention away from the stage. Our mobile theatre, which is easy to assemble and disassemble, makes it possible to take the magic of the Puppet Opera anywhere, offering an unforgettable show in both large and small spaces. Our stage has a height of 60 cm, but we recommend placing it on a stage with a minimum height of 60 cm to ensure optimal visibility.
Shows adaptable to all ages
Emotional or dramatic
The length of the show varies from 30 minutes to an hour and can be adapted according to the audience present, offering different interpretations that make each performance unique and engaging. Depending on the audience, the show can emphasise more emotional, dramatic or light aspects, thus ensuring a tailor-made experience for each type of spectator. For children’s audiences, we have specific shows in which we use fairy-tale-looking puppets, specially created to fascinate and entertain the youngest audience members.
Authors and actors of national importance
Exciting stories
The script of our shows stems from the synergy between two great authors: Giusy Sciacca, a nationally renowned writer who embodies the Sicilian soul of the Opera dei Pupi, and Rémi Usseil, a French scholar and expert on the Carolingian cycle. Giving voice to our puppets are nationally renowned Sicilian actors such as Rita Abela, Francesco Di Lorenzo, Lorenzo Falletti and Davide Sbrogiò, who bring life and passion to the stories we tell.

To embrace an international audience
We have the possibility (upon request) to perform shows also in English, to reach an international audience. Thanks to our sound and lighting service, all we need is a 220V socket to make the magic come to life.
