Sicilian puppet restoration
Restoration date March 2023
The fate of this little Pupo seemed already sealed: abandoned on the doorstep of a house, the owners, incredulous as soon as they saw it, did not throw it away, but hung it next to the front door. The puppet kept rusting, but after many years the owner decided to have it restored. The unknown manufacturer had used tin from some tin cans from the 1940s. Each piece of the armature was disassembled, ground and cleaned of rust. The same wooden cylinders that simulated the limbs were moulded to create the new hands. The face, totally repainted. The armbands and crest are the only reconstructed pieces.
